I'm circling Bob Dylan's lyrics this morning. Even my Yogi Green Tea proclaimed that "You are happiest when serving others." I don't think either mean a tray of scones or a shot of Jack Daniels. Though sometimes those remedies are the most appreciated.
What I believe is this: when you are able to serve someone else, you tend to lose whatever you're holding on to that restrains you. By doing something nice for another, even if it's only thinking a nice thought about them, or wishing their wishes come true, you stop thinking about yourself. Perhaps, stop talking negatively to yourself.
If you're in a bind, a little wayward, discombulated or feeling jaded -- you'll stop chewing the inside of your own mind, and leave the newly created husk you're forming behind. Serving someone else (and I'm not attaching this expression to any connotation of, by or for religion) allows you to feel.
Feel to deal to heal.
We're all in this together. Isn't it nice that we have the ability to reach out a hand, rather than lift up the angsty middle finger?
Today's word is: runcation
